The Yahoo! Search Module, as you could guess, allows you to tap into the Yahoo! Search engine. You can build custom search queries in this module and it will bring up a list of results, exactly like the search engine. You can also add site restrictions to only yield search results from sites you specify. For example, if I wanted to search for headlines for the New Orleans Saints, but only on ESPN, I would type ““New Orleans Saints” into the “Search for” field, and http://espn.com into the “Site restriction field”.
In another example, lets do a search for “potato skins recipies” and see what kind of detailed info Yahoo Pipes gives us along with the normal search results:
…and drill down the results, we get the:
- Title
- Link
- UpdatedOn (date/time)
- Description
From here, we could take our search results and organize them by title, date, description, get users to enter their own searches with the Text Input Module, and much more. Yahoo Pipes gives us a lot more flexibility with our search results than the regular Yahoo! search engine.
