Saving and Running Your Pipe

When you’ve finished editing your Yahoo Pipe, you have to save it by clicking the “Save” button in the top right corner of the canvas pane. You’ll be asked to name your Pipe and you can also publish it to make it public. Making your Pipe public allows everyone to see and use it and make copies of it for their own use.

Once you’ve saved your Yahoo Pipe, you will see a link that says “Run Pipe…” Click on it to run your Pipe and be taken to the Pipe’s homepage.

In this example, I created a Pipe to look for Honda cars on Craigslist priced between $0-$1000 in the Vancouver and Abbotsford area. Below is what your Pipe will look like when it’s saved and run on the Pipes website:

A This is where you can edit and view your Yahoo! profile information.
B The title of your Pipe.
C You can choose to add a description to your Pipe here.
D Shows whether your Pipe is published, how many clones (copies) there are, and what version of Pipes you are running.
E Pipe options that include: favoriting (click the star to add it to your favorites), Edit the Source (work on your Pipe), Delete, Publish, and Clone (copy).
F Your Yahoo Pipe web address.
G The different publishing options for your Pipe.
H Switches between “List” view, “Image” view, or “Map” view. Also displays how many items are in your Pipe.
I Bookmarking and social networking options to share your Pipe.
J Optional tags that you can add to describe your Yahoo Pipe and help other people find it.
K Pipe content: images.
L Pipe content: title and external link.
M Pipe content: description.
N Sources your Pipe uses. In this case we used Craigslist.
O Modules your Yahoo Pipe uses, and a diagram of what your Pipe looks like in “Edit Source” mode.
