Loop Module

Loop Module

The Loop Module is a sub-module in Yahoo Pipes. To use it, you can insert another module in the Loop Module and will be run once for each item in the input feed.

To add a sub-module into the Loop Module, select the module from the toolbar. If the selected module is valid, a dotted black border will surround the “Drop Module/Pipe from the toolbox here” section of the Loop. You can drop any module into the Loop Module except Operators and User Inputs.

Some sub-modules (Term Extractor, String Regex, Create RSS Module etc.) have a connector for input. When these modules become sub-modules, the drop-down list at the top of the Loop Module will populate with fields from the Loop’s input feed. You can select one of these fields to the set the input for your sub-module.

The Loop Module allows you to handle data in two ways when it passes out of the Loop.

“Emit results” will only output data, keeping the same element names.

If “assign results to” is selected, all original data will be outputted under one element name, and the modified data will be outputted under a different name.

To see an example of the Loop Module in action, see the Create RSS Module.
