If you aren’t sure whether a web site offers an RSS feed, then use the Fetch Site Feed Module in Yahoo Pipes and let it do the work for you. It will automatically search the site for available RSS feeds. If multiple feeds are discovered, only the first one will be fetched.
It will then provide a list of results that are in that feed.
Tip! If a site changes their feed URL, the Fetch Site Feed module will automatically update the URL.
For sites with only one feed, this module is a good alternative to the Fetch Auto-Discovery module.
This module is great most of the time, but not every site will provide auto-discovery links that are needed for this module to work.
The Feed Auto Discovery Module will only return a list of available RSS feeds, whereas the Fetch Site Feed Module will actually fetch and display the feed.
In this example, we want to see a list of RSS entries from Facebook’s blog so lets plug the URL (http://blog.facebook.com) into the Fetch Site Feed Module to see what it comes up with.
If we drill down the results, this is what we get:
(The content and description titles weren’t drilled down because they take up too much room to display, but that’s where the actual blog post is kept.)
