Feed Auto-Discovery Module

Feed Auto Discovery Module

Sometimes web sites don’t make it very easy to find their RSS feeds or sign up for them. This module saves you the time and hassle of trying to track them down. The Feed Auto-Discovery module indentifies whether a web site has an RSS feed. Sometimes web sites have more than one RSS feed (ie. one for news, one for pictures, one for blog posts etc.), if this is the case, the Feed-Auto Discovery module will show all available RSS feeds. Just enter a site’s URL into the Feed Auto-Discovery Module to see if it has one.

In this example, I wanted to see what RSS feeds YouTube offers, so I typed http://youtube.com into the Feed Auto Discovery Module and 7 results came up.

If we drill down the titles in the Debugger pane in the Yahoo Pipes editor, we get additional information about each feed. We can see the RSS feed link, relation, type and title. The most important information to us here is the RSS feed link. Now that we know the link of the RSS feed we want to work on, we can copy and paste it into the Fetch Feed Module and grab the feed.
